 With the help of 1.2 million foot scans, we updated Ultraboost with a complete 360° fit improvement. And we didn’t stop there. We re-engineered the rubber outsole. We tested hundreds of prototypes. We tweaked them. We retested them. We kept going until we saw visible improvements in performance.  

ULTRABOOST INNOVATIONS

adidas Ultraboost showcased the world’s first 3D-knitted running shoe, designed to flow with natural running motion and place you closer to the technology for maximum comfort and more energy return than ever before. The upper is fused with yarn containing 50% Parley ocean plastic and offers the perfect balance of support and flexibility. Fusion eliminates layers of adhesive, providing instant step in comfort and a direct connection to the seamless Primeknit upper and Boost midsole. A 3D heel frame allows for heel expansion and pressure distribution with each step.

ADIDAS ARCHIVE: BOOST

After countless trials and hundreds of iterations, the Boost midsole was launched in 2013. Created in collaboration with German chemical company BASF, Boost is comprised of thousands of foam capsules bonded together using steam. This midsole technology has set a new standard in the industry and is now featured on more than 20 silhouettes from baseball cleats to lifestyle sneakers to the unprecedented Ultraboost—the first running shoe to deliver incredible energy return with every step.
