Bought these time and again for growing boy. He uses them for everything from school to playing in the woods. They take a beating and last about a year.

Waterproof, true to size but low volume
I'm a size 12, but ordered 12.5 because some reviewers said these run small, and because my feet are skightly wider than average. Lengthwise, size 12 would have been long enough based on where my big toe is after lacing up. also, these are wide enough for slightly wider than average feet. However, the interior volume is insufficient for high volume feet. my right foot is fine, but my left foot is difficult to fit due to a knob of arthritis on top of my left big toe knuckle. I was able to walk 5 miles without any real discomfort, but these shoes would work better for me with a little more volume.
The heel lock could be better. I get some slippage unless I tie them fairly tight. I'm not running in these, so that doesn't seem to be much of an issue. I have not yet hiked a rugged trail, but stability was good on a fairly steep grassy hill. I have other footwear for technical terrain. The 10mm heel drop is more than I prefer.
I stood in water covering the forefoot for 30 seconds, no leak.
